It is with great enthusiasm that we introduce LEANERS in LEADERSHIP!!! The Skills Mastery and Resilience Training program, formerly known as SMART Girls, has started in each of the five units in the Great Lakes Bay Region. We are excited to see what the planned activities of 2022 hold in store for our young Club members, including: dynamic sessions and hands-on activities, field trips, and mentoring opportunities with many role models. LEANERS in LEADERSHIP is a small-group health, fitness, prevention, education and self-esteem enhancement program. Through dynamic sessions, participatory activities, field trips, mentoring opportunities with adult women, and hands-on activities, Club members explore values and build skills.
LEARNERS in LEADERSHIP is dedicated to unity, equity and diversity programming
for area youth ages 8 to 17 with guidance on:
Goals include helping program participants:
With the support of our community partners, we are proud to have graduated 330 young people through the curriculum over the last two years. This year we have 75 participants eagerly working towards their own achievements through opportunities to find their voice and seeing themselves as leaders.
The accomplishments of each will be celebrated during the LEANERS in LEADERSHIP Celebration, that is currently working out all of the details for our event on May 14th, 2022. In honor of the young people of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Great Lakes Bay Region, please consider sponsoring our program and celebration. Each graduate of the program will receive commemorative pin and certificate at the event as well as enjoy a dinner and a program surrounded by fellow graduates from across our organization.
If you would like to help sponsor our efforts, please contact Ronda Tousciuk, Program Director, at (989) 737-7677. We are incredibly honored to be able to get a little piece of normalcy back into our youth programs. Thank you for your consideration.
